Metal
Metal braces are the most common type. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.
Clear
Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.
Invisalign®
The Invisalign® System is a series of clear overlay templates called aligners that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult patients with certain orthodontic bite problems. Ask us if you are a candidate for the Invisalign system.
AOO
In this era of technology, a technique that shortens conventional orthodontic treatments for patients from 24 months down to six months for selected bite problems has proven particularly exciting. Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (AOO) treatment involves combining braces and gum procedures. The AOO procedure is a result of the pioneering work of Drs. Thomas and William Wilcko. This ultra-quick perio-ortho treatment has proven safe and effective for teens and adults since it was first introduced more than a decade ago.
Speed System
We offer SPEED braces, which are among the smallest brackets invented. Dr. Wiegand uses the SPEED braces in his practice, as well as in his teaching at the UTHSC-San Antonio Graduate Orthodontic clinic. SPEED braces are known for shortening office visits due to their ease of use by staff.
